Acc Mataikan publishes general information about home exteriors, building materials, renovation processes, and typical costs. This page explains the limits of that information so you can use it sensibly.

The short version: everything here is educational. It is not a professional assessment of your property, and no article can account for what is actually behind your walls.

General Information Only

Our articles are written for homeowners trying to understand their options before speaking to professionals. They are not engineering advice, architectural advice, legal advice, or financial advice, and reading them does not create any professional relationship between you and this site.

Every property is different. Structure, soil, drainage, orientation, existing condition, and local climate all change what is appropriate, and none of those can be assessed from a distance. Where an article recommends an approach, it is describing what commonly works in the situation being discussed, not prescribing what is right for your house.

About the Cost Figures

Many of our articles include prices, unit rates, and budget ranges. These deserve specific caution.

They are general market figures intended to help you judge whether a quote is plausible and to understand where money concentrates in a project. They are not live pricing, they are not quotes, and they are not guarantees.

Actual costs vary enormously. Metropolitan markets commonly run 20% to 40% above the ranges we show, while rural markets often run below them. Material prices move with supply conditions, labour availability differs sharply by region, and hidden damage behind existing cladding is genuinely unknown until somebody opens the wall.

Use our figures to prepare for a conversation with a contractor. Do not use them to sign a contract, set a budget without contingency, or dispute a quote on their authority alone.

Building Codes and Regulations

Building codes, permit requirements, historic district rules, and homeowners association restrictions vary by jurisdiction and change over time. Where we describe a requirement, we are describing common practice rather than the law where you live.

Your local building department is the authority in your area, and their interpretation overrides anything published here. Any work involving structure, fire resistance, storm resistance, electrical systems, or a change to the building envelope should be confirmed with them and carried out by appropriately licensed people.

Product and Brand Mentions

Where we name a material type, product category, or industry body, it is for illustration. We do not test products in a laboratory, we are not certified to evaluate them, and mention of a material is not an endorsement of any particular manufacturer.

Manufacturer instructions and warranty terms take precedence over general guidance. Installation methods that depart from published instructions frequently void warranties, and we cannot advise on any specific warranty.

External Links

We link to external sources including government agencies, code bodies, industry associations, and research organisations, because they are better authorities on their own subjects than we are.

We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the destination site, and their content may change after we link to it.

Advertising and Commercial Relationships

This site may display advertising served by third-party networks. Advertisers do not review our articles before publication and have no influence over what we write or recommend.

We do not accept payment in exchange for recommending a material, product, brand, or contractor. Where an article recommends an approach, it is because it suits the situation being described.

No Guarantee of Results

We cannot promise that following any guidance here will produce a particular outcome, cost, appearance, valuation, or return on investment. Property values depend on market conditions we do not control, and construction outcomes depend on execution we are not part of.

Statements about resale value, buyer preference, or return on investment describe general market tendencies. They are not predictions about your property.

Errors and Corrections

Construction practice changes, codes get revised, and products get discontinued. We try to keep articles accurate, and some information will inevitably fall out of date between updates.

If you find something incorrect, outdated, or unclear, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections are made promptly, and we would rather be told than leave a mistake standing.

Limitation of Liability

You use the information on this site at your own discretion and risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Acc Mataikan accepts no liability for loss or damage arising from decisions made on the basis of anything published here, including costs incurred, work carried out, or contracts entered into.

This does not limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
